Magical Plant

This afternoon we stumbled upon a magical plant.  The kind of plant that just begs to be shaken like a wand or blown at so that all of its little seeds can fly away.

It was love at first shake, and then we were off.  Off to find as many as we could in our little yard.

As soon as one was spotted we picked it ever so carefully as to keep the little fluffy seed ball intact.  Once picked, Sullivan would shake the stem vigorously.  If the last of the seeds just wouldn't let go, he would blow them.

He practically ran from each plant.  Eager and excited to get to the next one.  Most times he let me pick them for him.

I love the way those little seeds danced in the wind.  They floated like little ballerinas and often landed on our clothes and in our hair.

I feel like often the very simplest things in life get tucked away or passed by.  Not intentionally, its most likely because we all have our routine and lists that help guide our day and keep us on track.  Often when there is a busy day I tend to forget where my day went.  Its like those days speed by and when my head hits the pillow I wonder if I took the time to really impact my little one, even if in the smallest of ways.

I find my self much more at peace when I can actually look back at the day and remember a few extraordinary moments that were experienced.  Today it was the magical plant and with the help of arty he flipped his first pancake(very carefully & completely protected).

I am loving every second of this boy.

In his element

From day one I have loved watching Sullivan.  I couldn't get enough of him as a newborn.  I poured over every inch of him just trying to burn him at his smallest into my memory.  As he is more toddler than baby now, I find myself completely stunned by the things I see him do.  I love to watch him use his imagination and figure new things out.

I like to think that we find excitement in the simple things now.  I ask him to help me all the time with things that I could do much faster by myself, but making things go by faster is not my goal.  Sullivan is teaching me to slow down, and so we do.

He is included in everything (ie: cleaning, cooking, laundry).
I'll give him a little task like pulling the leaves off of the kale stems and putting them into a bowl, or putting the wet clothes into the dryer with me.  It makes things so much more fun.

My perspective has changed and I try to fill our days with some excitement.  Yesterday, we went hunting for acorns at 8 o'clock in the morning.  It was cold and we only stayed for a few minutes but he was so happy.  Today we used the "car" cart at the grocery store instead of the regular one.  He hummed and waved the whole time and when I peaked in I saw that he was lifting his shirt up to show everyone his belly.  I laughed with him right there in the freezer section.

He's been wanting to play in his crib lately.

 First Finger Painting.
Is there anything more beautiful than a child's creativity in action? I don't think so.

The container's for toys have become the toy. :)

Sofie is in jail...haha.

He is just so full of smiles.

I love him.  I love everything about him.

Fresh & Fun Food

I have really grown to love going to the farmer's market each Saturday morning.  Of course it helps to wake up extra early to get a latte and a morning bun heated up at Starbucks first.  Plus, you have to get there early to get dibs on the best choice of produce.  Sully was a complete angel and the older gentleman behind us in line even asked me if he is always this perfect.  I said most of the time :)

He learned how to drink water out of this cup the other day.  It makes drinking water so much easier for him!  Speaking of that, both last night and tonight Sully opened his mouth like a baby bird under the faucet while the bath water was filling up.  It is the cutest thing.

Here was the stand that we got our veggies at.

We bought:
Beets
Carrots
Red Shallots
One huge heirloom tomato
An assortment of hot peppers
Green beans
Two yellow squash

See Sully enjoyed the carrot.  He gnaws on them and eats the little pieces.  Don't worry I watch him while he eats.
(ignore the horribly chipped nail polish)

Alot of the carrot ends up on his sweet face.

Dinner tonight:
Pork Chop
A giant slice of the heirloom tomato(and best $2 tomato I have EVER had)
Fresh salad with this Absolutely fabulous Greek dressing

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Don't mind if I do

My parents and I went to the Tommy Bahama restaurant here for happy hour and then we went to Anthropologie.  As you can see here Sully and I are sitting in one of my favorite chairs ever and I am wearing a pair of the store's sunglasses.  This is what I would call a top night...top night.
