Happy 2nd Birthday (10.23.2012)

Dear Sullivan,
You are the most loving two year old around.  Your daddy and I look forward to your tight hugs and sweet kisses each day.

You like to grab our hands and pull us in the direction you want to go, which is a lot of places.

You love being involved in whatever we are doing.  So I include you in as much as I can.  You enjoy sitting on the kitchen counter to help me mix ingredients or help with your daddy's coffee on the espresso maker.   When ever he finished his drink you get concerned and want to make another one for him.  You'll walk into the kitchen and put the cup on the counter-top directly in front of the espresso machine.  Smart boy.  You also put dishes in the sink for us, and still love throwing things in the trash.

You've stunned us with your smart ways countless times.  One day your daddy asked you if you wanted a drum set and you started moving your hands like a drummer would.  We were shocked because we have never shown you anything drum related before.

You ask for baths during the day, and often take a couple cars in there with you.  You try to pull your diaper off and get all your clothes off as well.   If you could be naked all the time you totally would.

You've gotten so much better in situations where other people watch you.  We go to MOPS and you will cry when I drop you off but you must quickly calm down because the ladies always tell me how good you were when I go pick you up.  A year ago I would get my named called to go pick you up from the nursery because you wouldn't calm down, so this is a BIG step for you.

You are so so curious about EVERYTHING.  You constantly ask "what's this?" or "what's that noise?"  And you are almost always finding things, like acorns, rocks, or leaves.

Your dad has these loose plastic teeth that he works on at school and you found a few and put them in your little cars, then you asked for "more teeth."  Haha.

You also had your first dental appointment and we went to see your daddy.  At first you were not happy about it at all, but then you came around and were so sad to leave daddy at school.

You lift my shirt to kiss the baby and then you lift up your shirt so I can kiss your belly.  So sweet.

You and your friends have started to play together rather than just near each other.  Its adorable to watch.

You are 35 inches tall and 29-30 pounds.  You wear a size 6 shoe and size 2 clothes.

Interesting foods you love to eat:
raw beets
radishes
sushi(not the raw fish kind yet)
green olives

I love that you have really started liking food over the last four months.  It took you a while to get excited about eating but now you are always open to trying new things.

Some of the first words I hear you say when you wake up in the morning are:

"all done"
"wheels?"
"beeps?"
"georgie?" (because you love watching Curious George)

You always give me a kiss in the morning.

You are embarrassed by my dancing, however you eventually come around and start dancing too.  You mostly run in circles, roll on the floor, and march your feet.

Favorite toys to play with:
-just about any car or toy with wheels
-balls of any kind but its especially cute to hear you say "golf ball"

We are so blessed to have you.  Happy second birthday Sullivan!  I love you so so much, more than I ever imagined.

New Sleep Discovery

Last Monday morning around 3am I heard Sully whimper a little so I checked the monitor and saw he was about to stand up in his crib.  I stood up threw on some of Arty's sweatpants that I had tossed on the floor before I got into bed, and then I heard it.  A small click followed by the white noise machine sound suddenly becoming louder.  I ran into the hallway in the dark and there was Sully with his arms stretched open ready for me to pick him up.  I cradled him in my arms and nestled him in between Arty and I in our bed for the first time in a few months.  As soon as I pulled the covers over his little legs he whispered "nigh night" and then he drifted off to sleep.  Sweet,   boy.  Arty told me that night that he loved having Sully in our bed again

I guess he's ready for a regular bed now since his crib doesn't contain him anymore.  The plan is to leave the nursery mostly "as is" for our next bundle and then move Sully in to what was my craft room since its the bigger of the two.  The craft room has slowly been getting cleaned out and I am so excited for Sully to have more room and a real bed.  I'm thinking its going to take a couple more months for the transition to be complete.

18 Months Old-(4.23.12)

This post is late (4.23.12 would have been right) but I want it for my own record.

There is a little story about this small hammer.  A few days ago Sully saw me hammer a nail into the wall.  He was hooked immediately.  I found an old piece of wood and let him knock it around while being closely supervised.  Its one of the highlights of his day.  He asks for it by running and pointing to area where I keep it and will say "this" on repeat until I get the hint.

We went to the park today and behind the park is a little forest with a walking path.  This picture was taken before I saw a small snake, from that point on we stayed on the trail.

You were watching a Caterpillar.

Dear Sullivan,
I wondered why there were no other kids at the park until I saw you head straight to the puddles.  My first reaction was to pick you up and go, but then I saw how much fun you were having.  A little dirt? No problem. That's why we do bath time every-night.

I always take you to these tennis courts to see if anyone left behind a ball or two.  Well, today was our lucky day!  We found one ball and there was more puddles of water.  Your favorite!

You sat in one puddle.

And then you were concerned about another caterpillar.  You see just a few minutes before, we saw one in the woods and I let it crawl up on the stick you were carrying.  That caterpillar made its way on to your hand and right as you started reaching to grab it with your other hand, mama screamed LOUD.  It just happened on accident(I didnt want to see guts).   After mama screamed, you cried and the only thing that cheered you up was seeing a barking dog.  Then as we walked back out of the woods I apologized over and over and told you that caterpillars are nice but that mama is not good with bugs.  I hope you understand.  I love you my big big boy.

~Mama

ps.  When Papa saw this picture of a caterpillar he told me he thought it was a centipede and that he squished one the other day.  Oops.

Toilet time

I'm pretty sure that Sully will be potty trained before he sleeps through the night.  In fact I have a bet with the husband to that affect.  He'll be 17 months old on the 23rd and has started to do some funny things when he is preparing to go number two.  I know now that when he goes into his closet and shuts the door, it means he is trying to poop.  The little guy wants his privacy!  The other sure sign is when he sprints from point A to point B.  If I see him randomly start to run as fast as he can(sometimes in circles) I'll check his diaper and sure enough he's taken care of business.  He totally communicates.

This is him in his closet doing things.  I really should get it more organized and functional.

I think it's time to get some potty training supplies.

Stepping up

This little guy started taking several steps in a row today!  When he did it this afternoon he put his back on the entertainment center and stepped away taking five or six steps before tipping over.  I clapped and said "yay!!!!", and told him how proud I was.  Then he showed papa his new skills today after dinner.  I feel like this is huge for him!  Hooray Sullivan!

8 months old...tons of photos

My oh my little man you are already eight months old today!
You started climbing everything this month!
You love standing up while holding onto just about anything for support, especially momma and poppa's hands.
Now you have three teeth (soon to be four) on the bottom and four teeth on the top.
You are FULL of smiles and the sweetest noises I have ever heard.  Today you said "ma ma" while crawling to me.  I had the biggest smile and my heart swelled.  You also respond to your name which is adorable.
When you are excited you scream and throw your arms up and down while bouncing.  You are very much on the go, always moving and discovering new things.
Excited!
Haha! you pulled down the fabric I put up for the pictures.
I love that face.
You just started sticking your tongue out this week.  You usually do it when you are crawling while also blowing bubbles.

Long eyelashes!
Climbing again!

Stats:
Still wearing size three diapers
It feels like he is 25 pounds at least but I will have to weigh him tomorrow to get the official weight
Wears anywhere from size 9 onesies to size 2T clothes depending on the style
Still breastfeeding like a champ.  So far he is just not very interested in foods.  Actually the one food he seemed to like the most was a red bell pepper :)
Sleeping in the crib is going pretty good.  He goes to bed around 7pm and wakes up between 11 and 12, goes back to sleep and wakes up around 3am, then goes back to sleep till 5 or 6am.  He takes one or two naps a day for 30 minutes to an hour.

Growing up I knew that I wanted to be a mom and that I loved kids in general but I had no idea how rocked my world would be once I had my own child.  I feel like my life has new meaning and I would do anything for him.  Each morning is full of excitement because I know I will be witnessing new things that Sullivan does or sees for the first time ever.  Its an amazing feeling.  I love him with all of my heart.
