Thoughts.

Here are some of the thoughts swirling around in my head lately.

-I wonder when Sullivan will start to wean himself.  He is about to be 15 months old and he is obsessed with nursing still.  I have nothing but good things to say about breastfeeding but at this point he is rougher, heavier, and harder to wrangle, lets not mention the nipple twisters (TMI alert) and I am tired.

-He's not sleeping through the night.  Our nights usually go a little like this.
7:00 to 7:30 bath time
7:30 to 8:00 I rock him to sleep
11 to 12 he wakes up, I rock him and put him back in his crib.  Or if I am functioning on autopilot I bring him into bed with me.
2:00 to 5:00am he wakes up and I almost always bring him into bed if he is not already there with me.
7:30-8:00am wake up to start the day.

There is definitely room for improvement here.  I am not worried about it because we all get plenty of sleep and honestly that is all that matters.

-He likes to eat:
apples
carrots
brown rice
blueberries
grapes
ice
orange peels(true story)
mushrooms
pumpkin and sunflower seeds
quinoa

-I am also pretty sure Sully has an allergy to milk.

This picture was taken after I tried giving him baby yogurt in November.  He gets contact reactions even when he touches milk with his fingers.

Sad!

-I started working out at the student rec center here.  They have child care for a few hours each day and it is  so nice to exercise again!  The first time I took him he cried but calmed down when he was held, the next time he cried for thirty seconds when I dropped him off and then started playing.  Yay!  I also took him to the pool three times last week.  He absolutely loves it and always has a great nap after.

-We got a juicer and have been enjoying all kinds of fresh juice!

This one was:
carrot
celery
ginger
 lemon
cabbage
apple

I just add ice and enjoy!

Well that is about all I have at the moment.

Randoms regarding Sullivan

Randoms regarding Sullivan:

-He says a very clear "hello" now.  It all started when I would talk on the cell phone.  Now he carries my phone around by his ear and says hello.  He's carried on conversations with family members thanks to his button pushing skills, and he also hangs up abruptly when he's had enough.

-Today I am pretty sure he said "here you go" when he gave me a "ba" (his word for book).  I also could have sworn he said "I love you."  You bet I am going to be working on that one with him now.  Also, the other day I asked him how he was doing and he said "guh" I think that means good.  Ok so maybe I am stretching it a bit but seriously this boy is smart.

-I've taken to talking to Sullivan so much now that twice today Arty said "what?" to me and I had to respond that I was talking to Sullivan.

-I asked Sullivan if he needed his diaper changed this past week and he gave me the wipes and two diapers...haha!  And he pretty much demands that he throw his diapers in the trash each time.

-His favorite word is "giggle."  I am not kidding he says giggle giggle giggle all day.  I love it.

-He can climb up on the chair in his room now, and he's proud of that.

-He likes raw sunflower seeds, with out the shells of course.  And he loves to drink water.

Well that about wraps it up my quite random but sweet list.

Fear and Motherhood

I think I have always been a girl that gets worried fairly easily.  I remember my parents going on a date when I was growing up and I was in charge of my brother and just feeling nervous that something would happen to my parents while they were out.  Or during the summer break I would make sure that my brother was wearing a helmet and staying in the driveway with his bike.  I never really got hurt because I was always careful and wanted everyone around me to be careful.

Well as you can imagine I have found that becoming a mom has magnified my insecurities about all of life's uncertainties.  It's easy to let your mind wander into scary places, especially medical things.  They just freak me out because it's my responsibility as a parent to notice them because Sully can't give me sentences yet.  Not that he should he's only one.  Nothing bad has happened to any of us medically but when the front desk secretary at the pediatricians office knows your voice and baby's name because you take him in every time he has anything going on (a cold, a rash, or a red eye) its not a good sign.  She just says that we're one of her favorites and I like to think that's true.

Tell me fellow momma's that I am not alone here.

Beautiful Scenery & some random bits

This morning was foggy.  I love the fog, it feels like you are up in a cloud.  I drove with Sullivan up to the top of  a hill to lookout on the town where we live.  I rolled the window down and put my hand out to feel the cool moisture on my hand.  Just as we came to the top, the sun started to rise and the white cloud we were in turned pink.  It took my breath away and I felt my eyes swell.  The sun's rays were shooting up so majestically. Growing up my dad would say that God put that sunrise or sunset there just for us to see.  I'd have to agree.  I wish I had pictures of what I saw.

I did come home, grab the camera and we went to another lookout spot here to take some pictures.  Unfortunately it started to rain some, but the leaves on the trees were still beautiful.

Since we were just a couple minutes away from the "trout pond" that we went fishing at earlier this year, I decided to stop by.

The scenery was spectacular.  I thought it was odd as I was pulling in that there were lots of cars and old men just hanging out until I saw an interesting parks and rec truck pull up.  All the old men scurried and threw their lines in.

Then out came the fish.  Big ones!

They let me take pictures.

Sully liked seeing the fish.

Other random bits from this week:

-Sully now points to my nose and laughs when I say the word nose.  I love his pointy finger.

-I need to solidify Sully's Halloween costume.  I was planning on making it but I'm running out of time.

-Speaking of running out of time, there are only ten more days until his birthday!  I need to get organized.

-I also need a pedicure.

-I am happy to have my husband back today, he has been studying like crazy.

Well, that's about it for me.

Wednesday's Randoms

Today Sullivan and I went to the grocery store.  I am serious, I really think he likes it there because he starts making his sweet noises and smiling at me.  I LOVE it.   We got a couple things and headed home.  I had to drop off some stuff to Arty at school so we did that and then I needed to pay my bill at Victoria's Secret so we went to the mall.  I also secretly wanted to see if I could check out the group of stroller walker moms there and see what kinds of exercises they do.  It looked like fun, and I saw a couple moms with the same stroller as mine and they were all doing lunges.  I had found out about them online and they meet Monday and Wednesday mornings.  So I think I am going to join up next Monday.  Now tomorrow is the first MOPS meeting for March. I am nervous because I don't know anyone AND because I have never left Sully with people I don't know and he will be in the nursery at the church for two hours.  I am worried he will cry the whole time.  I guess I need to pump in case he gets hungry and bring extra diapers and changes of clothes.  This is new territory but I think it will be good for me.  Yikes, I am getting more and more nervous as I type this.  I will check back with you guys tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

check out his sweeet blue eyes
