House Keeping

I really love spotless homes.
The way everything sparkles and shines, and everything is in its place.  I wish I was the type of woman who pulled the furniture away from the walls to vacuum and wash the baseboards.  I feel like I need to step up my cleaning game.  Any one else feel like that too?  I need advice and tips.  Those of you who are great house keepers please let me in on your secrets.  I'm looking for encouragement.  The only thing I can think of is assigning cleaning areas to days of the week.

Thanks in advance ladies!

Far From Family and a few Professional Pictures of Sully

A few pictures of Sullivan that my brother took back in November.  I love all of them!!

I have been thinking about this post for a while now.  I know that I am not the first new mom to live across the country from friends and family.   My family is in Phoenix, my husband's family is in Puerto Rico, and we are in the "wild and wonderful" state of West Virginia.  That really is the motto on the welcome sign as you drive into the state.  I think that the cold is just a reminder that our little family of three is out here alone because the weather is so different than what we are used to.  I don't want to come across like I am complaining because I'm not.  I am so thankful that my husband was accepted and is excelling in dental school here.  Its a very special opportunity.  We have so many blessings and a very long list of things to be grateful for.  I have just been thinking that its hard for a mom with a new baby to make friends.  I don't even know where to start looking.  The other issue is finding a person you trust to babysit maybe once a month so we can go out to dinner.  I really miss my family in Arizona and am looking forward to visiting them for two weeks during Arty's spring break in March.  I am curious how you all handle or would handle being away from friends and family and how you have found a great babysitter for date night.

Makeup Storage Problem

I can't be the only one who has a serious crush on makeup...thus creating a storage problem.  You see I am one of those people who love getting ready to go out, often more than actually going out.  I have fun playing with makeup...I think its relaxing.  So without further ado, here is a peek at my collection.
This is not all that I have and so I need to figure something out here.  I have sorted through this train case several times.  Any suggestions or ideas?  All I can think of is getting another train case but that seems excessive.

And I can't leave this quick post without a picture of my cute little guy who was just waking up from a nap.
LOVE his expression.

The Most Stylish Baby on the Block

Thanks to Sully's Grandma in Phoenix (we'll call her granny) he's dressed in the most ADORABLE Burberry Jeans.  I normally don't even like Burberry but these jeans are the cutest pair of pants I have ever seen.  He is a great model :)

Proud Momma of a 3 Month Old

Dear Sullivan,

You my sweet boy are three months old.  I really can't believe how fast time is going by.  Your Grandpa in Phoenix always says at birthdays that "it seems like yesterday (insert birthday boy/girl) were born" and now I get it.  Its not even close to your first birthday but I see how fast its going to come.  I know that one day you will have a family and witness this miracle first hand.  In all of my 26.5 years I have never felt so full, like my heart is overflowing with the purest happiness.  I say prayers for you every day.  Your dad and I are so madly in love with you.  One of your dad's favorite words to say when he sees you or even watches you sleep is that you are so precious.  Here are some of the things you have been up to lately.

You love bringing your two fists up to your mouth and then sucking them
You wear size two diapers
You have started grabbing blankets or burp clothes and bringing them up to your face
You smile the most content smile when I brush my hair over your face...this one really makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside
You sleep next to me on our bed and I LOVE it
You are wearing size 3-6 month clothes
You love bath time so much it always relaxes you
Your favorite way to be held is upright with your belly towards us and your head up by our shoulders so you can look around
You like sitting on my belly with my knees bent and your back resting on my legs, today you leaned forward away from my legs and didn't lose balance so you were sitting without help...it only lasted a few seconds but you did it!
We do play time lots everyday and I talk to you and I love to hear you "talk" to me
You have the sweetest voice I have ever heard

I love you, my sweet boy.

A little bit of what we did today

Well, today started like most days.  Sully woke up at 5:30 and we did the usual diaper change, eat breakfast, get dressed, make coffee, and take Arty to school.  Then I decided to do a face mask and some crafting when we got home.

(wearing a men's plain white tee, not pictured black leggings with socks over them, ergo carrier with the little man, giant yellow flower headband that I only wear for masks, and a avocado oatmeal mask)
LOVELY right??
I did pop the whitening trays in but I'll spare you that picture.
On to crafting...

Here's a preview of my craft room.

And this little guy kept me company

the
whole
time.

And for the first time he reached out and picked up a toy.

Then I gave Sully a bath and went to pick Arty up from school. When we came home I hopped in the shower and then I painted my toe nails dark blue.  There is just something about having painted nails that makes me feel GREAT!

Here's a cute picture that Arty took of our boy.  He is such a  proud dad!

I made a pork dinner in the crockpot we ate that and I topped my meal off with some coffee ice cream.  Its my favorite flavor!  I gave Arty a mask and we watched some shows on Netflix.  I'm calling it a night and am heading to bed.

Weekend Recap

Saturday started with an amazing breakfast made by Arty.  It included crispy hash browns and bacon and two eggs over medium.  I could seriously eat breakfast every meal of the day!  Its my favorite.  Then I did some cleaning and played with Sully.  We went to Barnes and Noble while Arty studied I flipped through a few magazine's while the babe napped in his car-seat.  All in all it was a pretty low key day.  For dinner Arty made his version of kung pao chicken with brown rice.  It tasted just like Pei Wei (for those people who live in AZ) or P.F. Changs if you don't.  I was really amazed.  I'll be taken some pictures of these meals going forward to show you his skills.

Sunday we headed to Joann's, the craft store.  Its a 30 minute drive.  I got some different fabrics and I'm so looking forward to some fun projects.  The husband put together an awesome craft room for me here.  Once I have things more organized I snap some pictures.  There's two sweet tables in there, one is long and thin and my serger and sewing machine are set up there ready to go and the other table is shorter and wider so I plan on using that one for cutting fabric and other crafty things.  Back to the days activities...so then we ate at IHOP for lunch and I had some of the harvest grain and nut pancakes with sugarfree syrup.  It is DELISH!  I'm telling you that if you have not tried those pancakes you should go get some quick!  Sully was so good, he just sat on my lap while we ate.  Then our little fam hung out at home and and Arty cooked a meal for us yet again.  He made a roast in the pressure cooker and I savored every bite.

Today I woke up with the little man at 5.  He is waking up earlier and earlier now.  I hope we don't start going back to 3am wake ups!!!  I did some laundry and started cutting some of the fabric I got at Joann's for this project I have in mind.  Sully took a nap and then Arty and I got some cuddle time in.  Yay!  Arty has been studying some more today and I've been busy with the little man.  I wanted to mention that Sully has started grabbing things like his clothes and bibs or blankets and bringing them up to his mouth.  He has also been making some of the CUTEST sounds and once he starts he keeps going for like five to ten minutes at a time.  Here are some pictures of Sully today.  He's wearing this adorable mint green polo and diaper cover that used to be my brothers.  I think he looks so handsome!

Last thought...I think I need to learn how to cut boys hair, as in my husband's.  Anyone out there ever attempt that task?  I need some tips!!  I was thinking that maybe youtube had some videos that could teach me....haha!

The Rundown

So today started for me at 6:30 am.

Here is he sitting patiently on our bed while I get dressed for the day.  I ate breakfast and made coffee and then we dropped Arty off at school at 8.

We came back home and then Sully ate and took a short nap.

LOVE these!

Then when Sully woke up I gave him a bath which he liked.

All wrapped up in the hooded towel I made for him.

He fell asleep again for a short nap.

I know I'm late posting but here are some after bare belly shots.  Here I am one day short of 12 weeks post partum.

Then I got Sully dressed and to my surprise he is already fitting six month clothes!

Then we went and picked up Arty at school.  He had a short day and was off at 11.  We went grocery shopping and got ingredients to make chicken noodle soup from scratch.  Then we ate lunch at Jimmy Johns.

Here is a sweet picture of my two loves.  I hope everyone has a great weekend!
