First trip to the park...Lots of pictures

Yesterday the weather was pretty nice here so I strapped on the Ergo and took Sully on a walk to a nearby park.
I laid down a blanket for us to just sit and relax while getting some fresh air.

The sweetest baby toes ever!

And now on to the SWING!

Yeah he loved it!

What a perfect day!

Embroidery Hoop Wall Art

I've been wanting to do this craft forever but I just never got around to it.  Finally, today I bought the embroidery hoops for a couple dollars a pop.  I picked up both the navy polka dotted and turquoise striped fabric at Ikea on sale for $1.99/yard a while back and thought this was a perfect opportunity to use a small piece in Sully's room.  Then it was a no-brainer to pick the other fabric, which is special to me because it's the same fabric I used to make the bumper for the crib.  I just love the colors!

This was the most instantly gratifying project I have done in a while, besides the chopping up of the jeans.
It took no time at all to do a rough cut of each fabric, put the fabric over the inner hoop, secure the outer hoop over the fabric and inner hoop, and then tap a small nail in the wall.Photobucket
If you are looking for a super quick and EASY little craft, I think this is the one!

Bowl O' Succulents

Today I was inspired by the beautiful weather here and desperate to get some more green in the house.
Soooo I went to Lowes and got this bowl (thats actually plastic) and these little succulents.  Then I filled the bowl with dirt and wah laaa this is the finished product!

Pretty!

Those are called baby toes!  I had to have them when I saw the name.

Next up I am totally making these pots!  Whats your next project?  I'd love to know!

First Easter

Sullivan on Easter morning in the vintage outfit I talked about in this post.  We were on our way to church when it was discovered that our wallets were stolen out of the car overnight.  So we cancelled all of our cards and went to Cracker Barrel.  Sometimes things don't go as planned but you just have to make the best of it.

Photobucket
This was the first (of many) blanket I made him when I found out I was pregnant.

I love his hand up at the top of the picture.  He does this thing where he opens and closes his fingers on EVERYTHING.  You can actually hear him doing it sometimes...he has fast fingers. :)

My jeans met scissors today

It must be the weather warming up combined with my need for shorts that brought me to this point today.  I have a bin full of jeans that I haven't worn in a while for whatever reason, but that I couldn't part with just yet.  So I went rummaging in there today and pulled out three pairs of jeans that were once very loved.

Left to right:
1.  Joe's Jeans-worn out and they had a huge coffee stain on the legs
2. Paper Denim and Cloth-sooooo soft but the pant legs were too short for me
3. Citizens of Humanity-hardly worn because they were too short

I grabbed my scissors and started cutting.  I compare this experience to that of ripping off a band-aid.  The faster you do it the better it feels.  I varied the lengths and actually like the middle one's in the picture above the best.

I may be the only one but I could care less about the size of my clothes as long as I like the way they fit me.  For example, I usually like my jeans and skirts to hang lower on my hips so sometimes I have to go up a few sizes to get the desired "hang" ha!

This was so fun and easy to do!  I am excited that these pants have a new lease on life, I have shorts, and that I will use the pieces I cut off for some other craft down the road.

Six Months Old

It's crazy to me that Sullivan is already six months old!

Some of his likes:
Bath time
Eating(only breast milk so far but we'll be adding some food this month)
Rolling
Playing with anything he can get his hands on
He likes it when I say oy oy oy...not sure why but he always smiles
Being tickled on his sides and arm pits makes him laugh
Loves when I put my hair in his face
Standing up with help of course
Looking around...always curious
Being held
Sleeping in our bed
Diaper changes
Soft blankets
His giraffe teether
The Ergo carrier
Started liking the stroller more, and napping while I attempt to jog.
Books

New Stuff:
He started splashing water now on purpose during bath time...its really cute
He can sit up on his own for a few minutes at time
Just rolling around the room now and doing 360 spins to get to where he wants to go
Lots of bouncing up and down when he stands
Gives me big wet kisses on my face and chin
He's also been responding to his name...like if I say his name he will turn and look at me :)

Stats:
20 Pounds
27 Inches
Size 3 diapers
Size 6 to 12 month clothes
Two teeth on the bottom

I am so so so in love with this little boy.  He is so sweet and just a wonderful addition to our family.

Sullivan,
You fill our lives with so much love, laughter, and joy.  We love you more and more each day, if that is even possible.  Happy half birthday sweet Sullivan!

Love always,

Momma

Show Us Your Life-How I stay my version of organized

I decided that the linky going on a Kelly's Korner sounded like an interesting topic about staying organized.

I am no organizational expert.  However, the way I stay the most organized is by following in the wake of my husband and picking up after him (mostly his habit of dropping yesterdays clothes in a pile somewhere).  I clean more on the weekdays because he's in dental school all day and can't wreck any progress I may have made on the organizational front.  That's not to say that he doesn't help me out cleaning and putting stuff away because he has kind of adopted cleaning the kitchen and loading and unloading the dishes each night.

I also like finding recipes and shopping for each meal.  I made a cute recipe binder with page protectors and the cheap packs of file folders from the Target dollar section.
