Anthro-Inspired Abstract Painting

A few weeks ago I fell in love with this painting from Anthropologie.  I knew that I could paint my own with a similar color scheme.

Here is my version.  It's definitely not the same but I really love the colors.

A couple things.  I re-used this 18x24 canvas.  This is the third time I painted on it.  I learned from Little Blue Boo that you can paint over any canvas (even old thrift store paintings) with white ghesso and you are good to go.  I wish I had a canvas that was 60x40 like the original painting.  I am sure it is even more stunning in person.

Now that I see them next to each other mine hardly compares...however I am really enjoying how bright and cheery it is.  Plus it only took one night to complete.  And it was basically free.  WIN!

  1. Loved your painting Megan.

  2. hmmmmm. I'm digging this idea! I can feel the artist in me starting to stir! lol

  3. I think it looks awesome!!! And almost free is def better than spending $$$ on the Anthro version!

  4. Looks great Megs! Has your name written all over it!

  5. I think it looks awesome. Plus, free? Free is awesome.

I repurpose stuff all the time. It NEVER looks nearly as close to the original as yours.
