Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi mom and dad!  We're watching the parade right now.  I wish we could all be doing this together.  Mom, I  imagine that you are peeling apples for your apple pie and assembling crust in your pie dish.  Dad, maybe you took Henry for a walk?  I love you guys so much and miss you more than anything.

AND...

A big shout out to my brother...

HAPPY 25TH BIRTHDAY STEPHEN!

Sunsets

Yesterday, after the rain finally cleared out and the sun started to set I grabbed my camera and Sully and ran out side to snap a few quick pictures.

I love impromptu moments like these.

Recent Things

Last week there were a few days of nice weather.  This was taken on one of those days.

We played with chalk and rolled around in the grass out back.

I decided it would be a good time to hang up my Popsicle stick snowflakes.

They are huge and I love them! I want to make more.  In a way they remind me of something you would see at Anthropologie.

We did lots of chasing this ball around the house.

Random Bits:

  • I am loving that my man is going to be hanging out with us all week since he has a Thanksgiving break from school.

  •  I think that Sully will be moving up to the next age group at MOPS.  Now that he is walking he seems to gravitate towards older kiddos so we'll see how it goes next time.  I do love the sweet ladies in the nursery now because one of them has a magic touch to get him to take a nap and then putting all 25 pounds of him in a bouncer.  This past time he slept for two hours there.

  • I had my first night out with four other mom's on Thursday.  It was FABULOUS! When I got home Sullivan and Arty were asleep.  It was 10pm.

  • Sullivan helped me dust the other day.  I had a few paper towels in my hand and gave him one.  Then I started wiped down the entertainment console and he totally did it too.  Then we both walked over and threw them in the trash together.  He is so smart!

  • I'm taking pictures of a fun family early this week.  I'm feeling excited/nervous because I want the pictures to be stunning!  We'll see how it goes.

  • Oh yeah and Arty baked this Challah bread from scratch and then made the most delicious french toast with it for dinner!  Yay!

DIY Photography Backdrops

This is my first attempt at making a little backdrop situation for pictures.  I took two command hooks, one of the cheap curtain rods from Target, some string and a roll of wrapping paper and here are the results.

Pretty fun, right?

My mind is swirling with the endless possibilities here.

Our playful day

This was our morning yesterday.  Ok maybe this was how most of our day looked.  We did lots of playing.

We did meet up with Arty for lunch, which was great!

Its funny because now everytime I am on the phone Sully will put his hand up to his ear like he is on the phone too.  Or if he gets a hold of my phone he puts it up to his ear.  So adorable.

These are one of the little things I never want to forget.  How his soft curls swirl around his ears...totally precious.

His eyes are so pretty and full of a mixture of colors.

These are a pair of fleece pajama bottoms that I made for him while I was pregnant.

We love playing with toys here.  I'm look forward to Christmas so that we can break out some new fun toys.  Our favorites come from Melissa & Doug and Green Toys.  Now I understand why kids have so many toys, it's because their parents like playing with different toys too.

Good times.  No GREAT times, the very very best of times!

Getting Out

I don't know if it's just me but I try to get out of the house at least once a day for my own sanity.  Some days we go grocery shopping, or meander the isles at Michael's, but my favorite thing to do is to play outside with Sully.  I love letting him have free range to explore.  It was warm and sunny and perfect so we took a walk to the park.  I taught him not to eat rocks and pebbles today.

I'm hoping there will be more days like this before the snow comes.  I'm cold just thinking about it.

Sparkle

I've always been a girl that LOVED sparkly things(glitter, sequins, DIAMONDS).  I truly love everything about Christmas time(every single thing), especially the glittery lights.  Well, I wanted to try taking pictures with a simple strand of white Christmas lights for the background.  Here are the results.

He doesn't suck his thumb...just bites it.  Darn molars!

I'd say it was a success!

Fun and Funny Stuff

The weather was absolutely gorgeous today.   We seized the opportunity to get out and enjoy the fresh air.

Collecting rocks.

Eating dirt.  He did it so fast that I didn't have a chance to stop him.  I guess a little dirt never hurt.

Precious boy.

I love everything about this picture!

There were a couple hilarious things that happened over the last couple days.

First:
We have a rule about taking your shoes off before you walk around the house.  Well, I broke the rule and left my flip flops in the living room.  A little while later I see Sullivan carrying them to the front door.  Then he shoved them with force in the shoe rack/shoe station we have at our entryway.  HE PUT THEM AWAY!  Hahaha we were amazed.  He just turned one and now he is helping me organize.  Love that!

Second:
I always joke with my husband that when he leaves his socks laying around the house (all over) that I am just going to throw them away instead of pick them up.  Well today Sully picked one up and walked to the garbage and put the sock INSIDE.  He tossed that sock in the trash.  Laughter broke out immediately!  I'm pretty sure that Sully is a genius. :)

We are having so much fun with him.  His personality is really shining, and I'm loving every minute of it.

Fear and Motherhood

I think I have always been a girl that gets worried fairly easily.  I remember my parents going on a date when I was growing up and I was in charge of my brother and just feeling nervous that something would happen to my parents while they were out.  Or during the summer break I would make sure that my brother was wearing a helmet and staying in the driveway with his bike.  I never really got hurt because I was always careful and wanted everyone around me to be careful.

Well as you can imagine I have found that becoming a mom has magnified my insecurities about all of life's uncertainties.  It's easy to let your mind wander into scary places, especially medical things.  They just freak me out because it's my responsibility as a parent to notice them because Sully can't give me sentences yet.  Not that he should he's only one.  Nothing bad has happened to any of us medically but when the front desk secretary at the pediatricians office knows your voice and baby's name because you take him in every time he has anything going on (a cold, a rash, or a red eye) its not a good sign.  She just says that we're one of her favorites and I like to think that's true.

Tell me fellow momma's that I am not alone here.

Photo Dump

This is what Sully did to my honey crisp apple this morning.

This is his sleepy face.

Angel face.  He was proud that he climbed up on the chair in his room by himself.  By the way, we pretty much have a full time walker over here.

We went to the park.

I brought along a mini Christmas tree to see how he liked it.  Of course he liked it alot.

This is the "oh" face again. In fact I can imagine him saying "Oh Oh Oh" right now.

The weather was nice today!!! So we went with bare-feet.

He is so handsome...he takes my breath away.

Since I have so much fun taking pictures of Sullivan and pretty much everything else I decided to see if other people would want me to take their pictures, especially now since the holiday's are coming up.  I've learned alot  this year so we'll see how it goes.  I drove around looking for places to take pictures and I found this cool blue wall(and some other potential places too).  That red paint is probably at least 20 feet off the ground.  I think it would be cute for a Christmas card with a family standing in front of it.  Anyone else getting obsessed with photography? Haha!
